These days if you want to market anything to today’s youth, just throw ‘High School’ in the title and you’ll be rolling around in cash before you know it. You only have to look at the juggernaut that is High School Musical for proof!
Meanwhile, Vivendi Games Mobile is claiming that “Surviving High School 07″ is the most successful IP title ever released on mobile. The classic schoolyard game first rocked out worlds on operator decks back in 2005, with an updated 07′ sequel released in 2007. SHS was created by Centrescore, which was then acquired by VG Mobile in 2006.
The game has even spawned a popular MySpace page that gets huge amounts of activity! Each character even has their own page. The France-based publisher even leaned on FaceBook to market the product virally. Who would have though mobile games would eventually get their own social network pages? Paul Maglione, president of VG Mobile, said: “The success of the Surviving High School series confirms that innovative, original IPs and a constant flow of updated content plays an important role in the future success of mobile gaming.”
In other news, VG Mobile just released Leisure Suit Larry: Love For Sail. Fans of Larry Laffer can now rejoice.
