If Starbucks wasn’t already taking over the world, they’re about to! Starbucks has partnered with AT&T to offer a nice large cup of free Wi-Fi to any coffee punter who makes a purchase. The whole process was a little too confusing for the average Starbucks lover, so they created a diagram, because diagrams solve problems!
Oh and you better believe they have left Australia out….AGAIN!
So does it work? Not really. Here’s a post from 1 disgruntled customer who will probably never go to Starbucks again! Under the problematic program, which launched on Tuesday, customers must buy a Starbucks rewards card with at least $5 value on it and then go through the hassle of signing up for the free Wi-Fi service on Starbucks.com. Then, to keep the offer active, customers must actually use the card to buy Starbucks products at least once a month.
The free Wi-Fi service will last you only two hours a day, which can only be used in a single session. The Starbucks-AT&T deal, originally announced in February 2008, is part of AT&T’s massive expansion of its broadband and wireless services. Subscribers to the AT&T wireless service get free Wi-Fi at any of AT&T’s 17,000 hot spots across the country, with no time limit. And they can use the hot spots at Starbucks locations with no limit, without the need for a Starbucks card. Hopefully they can fix the bugs and work with someone like Telstra to roll this out in Australia. There’s a Starbucks down the road from me and I would just love to go down there, fiddle with my laptop while it spits errors at me and sip coffee that’s stone cold because I’ve spent the last hour trying to get my free Wi-Fi. Can’t Wait!
