The Nokia N96 will come with a new ‘made-for-mobile TV Channel’ called Capsule N96.

Capsule is set to feature a whole host of famous people including Jonny Smith, Margo Stilley, Wayne Hemmingway, David Phelan, Ben de Lisi and Jonny Woo, all of whch will front 96 second mobisiodes encompassing topics like motoring, fashion, gadgets, comedy, culture and homes. Ok, so most of those people are from the UK and to call them famous would be a stretch, even for me…but still, it’s a great idea by Nokia.

Simon Ainslie, managing director at Nokia UK, said: “The quick-fire and exciting programming that forms Capsule N96 really reflects the dynamic nature of the Nokia N96 and its users.

“Watching great content is no longer inherently linked to your living room. Great devices like Nokia N96 allow you to decide what content and when so the opportunities are endless on where to watch new shows and old favourites alike.”

Samsung Electronics has just reported US$2.12 billion in earnings, for the quarter, on sales of US$18 billion. Although not all of this is a result of mobile phone sales. The electronics giant is the world’s largest manufacturer of memory chips, flat screen televisions, and LCD displays.

Samsung claims they sold a whopping 45.7 million handsets in Q2, which is a highly impressive increase of around 22% when compared to 2007. However, this still represents a decrease considering they sold 46.3 million in Q1 2008. Overall these figures put Samsung’s total mobile market share at 15%, thus placing them in 2nd place, behind market leaders Nokia (who still hold the title with 40% market share) and ahead of LG (9.1% share).

Here at Mobgizmo we love anything to do with the upcoming Nokia XpressMedia 5800 Tube (or whatever the hell Nokia decide to call it). No phone has had this much buzz and hype since the iPhone. So when we saw this amateur shot of the Tube’s keyboard, we simply had to share with you.

Nokia has yet to confirm that this is final version of what the keyboard will look like, so chances are it will change by the time it hits shelves, but at least you can get an idea of where Nokia are going with this “iPhone Killer” touchscreen handset. Personally I think it looks a little dull, but I’ll leave it up to the readers to have the final say. Are you excited by this or are you too busy fiddling about with your iPhone to even care?

Nokia have secretly soft ‘launched’ the much anticipated XpressMedia 5800 Tube by featuring it on the sly in the new Batman film, The Dark Knight.

Nerds around the world who were quick enough to make the connection were given seconds of pleasure when the sexy device flashed on screen. Many anti-Apple mobile users are anxiously waiting to get their hands on the new Tube and the association with Batman has just made it that much cooler.

The Nokia Tube XpressMedia 5800 will be Nokia’s first real jump into the world of touchscreen devices. Personally, with the recent iPhone failure (as a result of media locking) in Australia, I’ll be lining up to get the Nokia Tube as soon as it arrives on Aussie shores!

Nokia is well aware that big brands sell. Verizon Wireless have just teamed up with Nokia and Warner Bros. to release the new 6205 handset that has been inspired by ‘The Dark Knight’ Batman movie.

The new Batphone ties in with the movie’s upcoming July 18th release and is expected to be snapped up by comic book fans faster then you can say ‘Holy Smokes’. The 6205 is exclusive to Verizon Wireless and features a slim flip-style design coupled with a mysterious black shell that’s emblazoned with the Dark Knight emblem. Fans will appreciate the phone being jam packed with Batman wallpapers, voice tones, animated screensavers and even the full movie trailer. Unfortunately the mobile will not fool villains with its array of gadgets, but it will make you look cool in front of friends.

To get technical for a second, the 6205 does come with complete Mobile Web access, an outdated 1.3 mega pixel camera, 58MB of internal memory (expandable to 4GB via a microSD memory card), VZ NavigatorSM, Bluetooth, Get It Now multimedia downloads, and Voice Dialling and Voice Commands for touch-free control. On the cool side, this Verizon Wireless exclusive handset also boasts a decent 2-inch display screen along with touch-sensitive external music keys for quick and easy user access to tracks purchased through the Verizon Wireless “V CAST” music service.

If you haven’t already jumped in the Batmobile to pick one up, then you obviously haven’t heard about the complimentary ‘Joker Card’ that every lucky buyer receives. The card carries a unique code that directs the consumer to FightForGothamCity. Customers simply enter the code and are entered into the draw to win US$10,000 from Joker’s private money bag stash. I’m quite possibly even more excited about the movie now!

It’s tough luck once again for all us Aussies. No announcements have been made regarding whether or not we will get our hands on this sweet gizmo. Warner has become the latest label (following BMG) to join the Nokia ‘Comes With Music’ party. The addition of Warner makes Nokia’s cool new music service something to be feared by Apple. The only label who is still standing their ground is EMI, who has refused to jump on the bandwagon.

‘Comes With Music’ is a service that will allow you to download unlimited music for 12 months and then keep the music as long as you own the device or transfer to a PC.

Konami’s popular console classic Metal Gear Solid is about to infiltrate the Nokia N-Gage. So if you’ve ever wanted to sneak up and snap someones neck on the way to work, then your prayers have been answered! Ideaworks3D have been hard at work at making the best possible mobile port you can imagine and I think they’ve pulled it off! Check this out:

However, to say that this is just a simple port is a massive understatement. Ideaworks3D have included a gameplay feature that will make even the most hardcore gamer sit up and pay attention. Mobile users can use the N-Gage camera to sample colours and textures from the real world and actually use them inside the game for Snake’s camouflage. If that didn’t get you drooling, then you weren’t born to be a gamer!

Metal Gear Solid Mobile is the third Ideaworks3D has developed for the new N-Gage platform, following System Rush and Mile High Pinball for Nokia Publishing. Let’s hope they keep pumping out the titles! Gregg Sauter, director of Nokia’s third party games publishing, said: “Metal Gear Solida on N-Gage will raise the bar with respect to graphical detail and made-for-mobile features.”

Initially, the N-Gage release of the game will support five languages including English, French, Italian, Spanish and German. You can expect to hear “Snaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake!” in late June 2008.

After firing up the Xpress last week, Nokia are quick to offer up a few new sexy slider phones to keep the Nokia brand on the forefront of everyone’s mind. It seems Nokia is content with just throwing a few standard new-age features onto a slick-looking phone and giving it a new numeric name. I wish they would just focus their attention on something innovative, like the promised Morph, instead of releasing these repackaged phones every week.

The 6600 comes in both “fold” (pictured below) and “slide” (pictured above) models, but the spec sheets are surprisingly different considering that they share a model number in common. The fold will grace you with a 2.13-inch QVGA OLED and 2 megapixel camera, while the slippery slider gets upgraded to a 3.2 megapixel sensor but loses the OLED designation on its 2.2-inch display. For the average consumer I imagine these spec changes to be quite confusing.

I can’t stay angry at Nokia for very long, not when they include cool features like the ability to double-tap the phone’s surface to awake the phone from its slumber. The fold comes in at around AU$450 and the slide at AU$400, before carriers attach themselves like leeches.

The 3600 slide (pictured above and below), unfortunately gets no foldy buddy to hang out with, but does boast a sexy colour that will look great on anyone’s desk. The 3600 gets a 3.2 megapixel autofocus lens with dual LED flashes, TV out, and microSD expansion for about AU$300.

Nokia launched its Nokia Music Store in Australia at music.nokia.com.au, making millions of tracks available for 1.70 Australian ($1.60 U.S.) per song or 17.00 Australian ($16 U.S.) per album. This is great news for us Aussies who feel our digital music market has been lagging behind the US.

The new store will also offer customers a monthly subscription for PC users to stream an unlimited number of full length tracks for only 10.00 Australian ($9.42 U.S.) a month (what a bargain). The store is providing exclusive access to a live album from the independent group The John Butler Trio.

As part of the service, Nokia also signs up well-known music figures to recommend songs and albums to users. In Australia, they’ve appointed Rock legend Jimmy Barnes. The Australian launch follows the availability of the store in the United Kingdom, Germany, Finland, Ireland, Italy and the Netherlands. More countries are expected to launch throughout the year.

Nokia have just released 2 new music-enabled phones in their XpressMusic range and they are sexier then ever! The new models include the 5320 and the 5220, which both offer a high quality, affordable and fun entertainment experience. Nokia have been working hard to make these babies as slick, clean and fresh as possible, and they’ve royally succeeded. Both handsets will ship worldwide in third quarter 2008 and will sell in Aussie stores for around $240-300.

The 3G-ready XpressMusic 5320 will feature Nokia’s innovative “Say and Play” feature that allows users to simply say the name of a favourite artist or even song and the track will automatically play. You’ll also have the trademark XpressMusic short keys, a full-featured Internet browser, a 3.5mm audio jack, 24 hours playback time, extendable 8GB memory, HS-USB and HSDPA and an audio chip for hi-fi sound quality. On top of all that magic is the N-Gage gaming platform that comes with special N-Gage gaming keys and landscape view. This will no doubt make the 5320 a contender for the ultimate mobile music experience.

The cheaper, but still totally awesome, Nokia 5220 XpressMusic device features a special built-in lanyard to allow users to take the device anywhere. Additional features include 24 hours playback time, dedicated XpressMusic keys and a 3.5mm audio jack. Both the 5320 and the 5220 are compatible with the Nokia Music Store (access to 2 million tracks) and offer easy music side-loading.
